These classes are not drop-in classes. Clients must book before joining and unless
they have previously practised Pilates within a recent time frame, will need to undertake a private 1:1 session before joining a class.
All classes are run on a term by term basis, with each course running, in general, for 6 weeks. The terms run roughly in line with the South Gloucestershire term times.
Unless shown as a beginners class, all classes are for clients with some experience of pilates.
All classes are limited to 12 people so clients can receive individual attention, correction and support.
All clients are required to complete an enrolment form/health questionnaire to ensure that there are no reasons why they shouldn't exercise in a group setting. Some medical/health conditions mean that exercises have to be modified to such a degree that private sessions will only be available. Clients wishing to join a group setting will be advised if private sessions are considered more suitable.
Each course is designed to provide progression through the exercises and therefore payment is required in advance of the course commencing.
I believe that clients enrol in a class because the day/time suits their own home and family commitments and so it isn't practical to label classes as intermediate or advance and have people change classes in line with their individual progression. Therefore, all my classes are labelled as "improvers" uness specifically stated as "beginners"
Clients are actively encouraged to exercise within the limitations of their own body, considering existing medical or health conditions and not to feel pressured to keep up with other class members.
Exercises will always start at a basic level and, where possible, variations are offered to make them more challenging, physically and/or mentally, for those who wish, or are capable of following them.
The emphasis is always on quality rather than quantity, I would rather have a client complete 3 or 4 repititions with precise control in key areas instead of trying to keep up with the class and maybe completing 6 or 8 repititions but with poor control in those key areas.
